my favorite slice-of-life documentaries

I love slice-of-life documentaries that give you a peek into a different culture or sub-culture.
They help induce this-is-water moments. We are reminded that the cultural water we swim in isn’t natural or inevitable. We aren’t in the ocean; we’re in a Dasani bottle.
Two of my favorite short (and free!) documentaries are:
- Cobra Gypsies (50 mins): These nomadic gypsies catch cobras, hunt honey, and make and sell charcoal. Most intriguing: strong social bonds, insane dance moves, and a playful approach to life and work.
- American Juggalo (20 mins): Meet fans of the Insane Clown Posse, at their annual festival.
